For over 35 years my passion for design, art and construction has rewarded me with a diverse, national client base. Creative and technical disciplines are brought together in my studio, a preserved homestead (circa 1835) listed on the National Register of Historical Landmarks, situated in the historical Highland Square arts district in Akron, Ohio.

In this unique and inspiring facility we carefully craft clients requests to accommodate their needs, budgets and time constraints in a prompt, creative manner. Projects cover a broad spectrum of design disciplines from conceptual design to completion, residential to corporate & visual merchandising. We handle space planning, lighting as well as turnkey installations. Meet Our Team

David L. Hawkins

Principal, David L. Hawkins Design

David is an award winning Interior designer with a BA from Kent State University in interior design, with disciplines in architecture, industrial technology, art, and business administration. David's hands-on approach to every project has him involved in all phases, from on-site-analysis to the final punch list. He is a NCIDQ Certified Interior Designer and has received awards for his lighting designs.

Audra Baringhaus

Project Manager/Designer

Audra received her Bachelor of Science in Architecture from the Kent State University College of Architecture and Environmental Design. She is a designer with unlimited energy, and efficiently produce everything from conceptual drawings to finished CAD details. Audra's strong architectural background allows her to track and complete projects from start to finish.

Vito Carchedi

Project Manager/Designer

Vito is a graduate of the Computer-aided Drafting and Design Technology program at ITT Technical Institute. He is fluent in all of the latest cutting-edge design software, and is our Senior CAD operator. His background as a Navy operations specialist is instrumental in keeping our projects on time and on schedule. As our field work coordinator Vito is the person our clients depend on to communicate directly with the contractors.

John Wheeler

Project Manager/Architect

John is a graduate of the Kent State University College of Architecture. He is a LEED accredited Professional and a licensed architect. His experience designing and managing large, collaborative projects, and excellent client relations skills make him a vital part of our team.

Jason Boltz

Project Manager/Architect

Jason is a graduate of Kent State University, and is a licensed architect. He is a LEED Accredited Professional, and has experience in all project phases from design through construction administration. Jason is a consensus builder with strong interpersonal skills, and manages a multi-disciplined design team.

Johnna Schroeder

Project Designer

Johnna, a graduate of Bowling Green State University, is an Interior Designer with 25 years of experience. Her Green Advantage Certification means she is focused on green building practices in commercial and residential building construction. Johnna has 25 years of experience with furniture specifications, and assisted in the creation of National Standard Furniture programs for corporate clients.

Wendy Geonis

Office Administrator/Designer

Wendy is a graduate of Akron University, and handles all of our day-to-day office operations. She arranges all field installations and coordinates staff travel. Wendy is responsible for product purchasing, generating contacts, and staging of model apartments.

George Chaney

Marketing/Graphic Design

George attended the University of Akron and Cuyahoga Community College. He generates all of our promotional literature, and web content. George is an experienced illustrator with strong presentation skills, and excellent photo retouching skills.

Cheryl Leland

Project Designer/Office Librarian

Cheryl is an experienced project designer and is our office librarian. She assists in the selection of fabrics and apartment model accessories, and is experienced in furniture installation.

Anthony Panici

Systems Administrator

As Systems Administrator Anthony handles all the payables and receivables for David Hawkins Design Management. He also works on job costing and profitability of those jobs.
